It is clear that we over package objects and that we should not consume what we do not need, however we are stuck in a conflicting cycle of ecological vs economical needs or wants. From the perspective of society and not from the individual it is not the objects that we design which are the problem but the money, which we use to consume the things that is. Therefore, until we stop the want for more money our consumption methods are unlikely to change. As you would assume the hunger for money in our society is unlikely to be suppressed anytime soon, as it is what drives the society itself. As a result, perhaps packaging change campaigns towards changing our consumption is not the most successful way to approach our problem. We need to re-design our consumption before we can ask society to change how we consume.
